THE HOME OF BLAGDON

In 1984, Blagdon Water Gardens as fledgling business that had grown out of its original site in the centre of Blagdon at the base of the Mendips in Somerset, moved 3miles down the road to an old nursery site. Although it is just a retail site at Upper Langford today, it became the original place of development and manufacture for many of the water garden products that we take for granted today. These products like the super reliable Amphibious Pump, containers for water plants, new liner materials and underlay for liner protection, were tried and tested in the huge variety of display ponds, many of which still exist on the site after 20years. The first plastic pools, stone-effect streams and even the stunning fountain ornaments for Henri Studio UK were all manufactured here. The aim of all this innovation was to make water gardening not only more attractive and affordable for more people, but easier to understand.

As the business developed in the nineties, the wholesale and product manufacturing, including Henri Studio UK, were detached into separate businesses from the retail side and moved to new sites in Highbridge and Bridgewater. It was then that the products, having been called Better Water Garden Products, were renamed simply Blagdon as an acknowledgement of the business’s original roots in Blagdon. So without doubt Blagdon Water Gardens is the original home of water gardening as we know it today and the natural home of the still innovative and quality product manufacturer Blagdon.
